How are you feeling today?

Here are a few things you can do when big feelings are in your heart:

  • run or jog
  • jump up and down
  • talk to someone
  • throw something soft
  • play ball
  • scream into a pillow
  • punch a pillow
  • make a picture
  • write a story
  • cry
  • sing

A. Can you think of any other possibilities? What do you usually do to express or control your feelings?

B. Now go to http://www.drgore.com/feelings and answer these questions:

  1. How does Dr Gore define feelings? Do you agree?
  2. How does he classify them?
  3. According to Dr Gore, can feelings be classified into good and bad feelings? Do you agree with him?
  4. Under which headline would you write the following feelings?

Calm, happy, excited, warm, amused :
Terrified, jelous, nervous, inferior, insecure, shy :
Embarrassed, rejected, guilty, humiliated, mortified :
Dejected, lost, abandoned, left out :
Miserable, unhappy, pessimistic, useless, upset :
Bored, frustrated, furious, cruel, annoyed :

C. Think of a time when you felt annoyed,nervous, excited, upset, happy, left out… and write about it. If it’s too personal, write about a friend of yours without mentioning their name.
